Using Neek ID

Neek ID is an identity service for Neek accounts and related services. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure, maintaining access to your email address, and using linked integrations only for accounts you control or are authorized to connect.

Neek ID's current retention and handling approach is designed to be compatible with GDPR-oriented data protection principles, including data minimization, user control, revocation, unlinking, and deletion paths described in the Privacy Policy.

Linked integrations

When you connect Steam, Discord, or Twitch, Neek ID uses the authorization granted by that provider to authenticate you and store the linked account record. Some integrations may also offer optional synchronized data.

You can unlink an integration from the linked accounts settings page. Unlinking removes the linked account record and cached linked avatar, and it removes provider-specific synced data that depends on that linked account.

Integration settings

Every integration has a settings page. Providers without extra sync support currently show that no additional settings are available. Steam currently supports fine-grained settings for online status, real name, profile URL, account creation date, avatar sync, Steam level and badges, currently playing, game server, recent games, owned games, achievements, primary clan/group, country/region, and friends list.

Settings that are off should not be synchronized into Neek ID. Some data may remain visible at the original provider depending on that provider's own privacy controls.

Synchronized third-party data, including Steam profile, game, friend, badge, and achievement data, is provided as-is. It may be unavailable, delayed, incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, changed, or removed by the original provider.

OAuth clients and tokens

If you create or use OAuth clients, you must keep client secrets, authorization codes, access tokens, refresh tokens, and personal access tokens private. Tokens may be revoked when you sign out, change your password, delete your account, or revoke them from settings.

Do not use Neek ID tokens to access data you are not authorized to access, impersonate another user, or bypass consent and security controls.

Retention and deletion

The current retention behavior is described in the Privacy Policy. Account deletion revokes active OAuth tokens, removes active sessions, logs you out, and soft-deletes the account record. Unverified accounts older than 14 days are eligible for scheduled pruning.

For immediate removal of linked-provider tokens and cached integration data, unlink integrations before deleting the account.

Acceptable use

Do not abuse authentication flows, automate account creation, attack the service, scrape data, misuse provider APIs, or connect third-party accounts without authorization. Access may be limited or revoked to protect users, integrations, and the service.
